We have always had a very positive experience with hiring our interns as full-time colleagues as soon as they finish university (I am a product of this approach myself). :) In the past, we have never really focused on it, though, which is something we're trying to change now. We have started actively looking for interns for almost all our departments as can be seen here and here.
Thanks to hiring interns as part-timers on entry-level positions, we not only feel like we give something back to the industry, we also have the invaluable opportunity to find talents very early on and capitalize on this advantage. We are able to directly influence the skills and expertise of the students, thus making it possible to shape our future colleagues – and students can try what it's like to work in an international, but start-upy company before even graduating.
What is your experience with hiring interns? Do they often become your full-time colleagues later on?
