Sketch Plugin

Sketch is a vector graphics editor for macOS. It is primarily used for user interface and user experience design of websites and mobile apps.

Installation

Prerequisite: Scetch is installed.

To install the Sketch plugin, follow these steps:

  1. Download the plugin.

  2. Unzip it and double click filename.

    The plugin is now available under the Plugin menu in Sketch.

Connect to Memsource

The plugin must first be connected to Memsource before use.

To connect to Memsource, follow these steps:

  1. From Sketch, select the Plugins menu.

    The Plugins menu opens.

  2. Select Memsource from the menu and click Connect to Memsource.

    The Log in to Memsource window opens.

  3. Provide Username, Password and Hostname. User must have Project Manager or Administrator roles in Memsource.

  4. Click Connect.

    Sketch is now connected to Memsource via the plugin.

Usage

The plugin provides these functions:

  • Submit page for translation

    Select a project template and optionally a due date and apply settings. Select target languages from the project template before submitting the page.

  • Check translation status

    Displays the status of a selected page.

  • Retrieve page translations

    If the job status is Complete, pulls translated page from Memsource and changes the status to Delivered.

  • Pseudo-translate page

    Set pseudo-translation options and view the results of pseudo-translated Sketch pages.

Managing Strings

To manage strings, follow these steps:

  1. From the Plugins menu, select Development, Memsource, Manage strings to translate.

    The Select strings to translate and assign key names window opens.

    Click Group duplicate entries if the same key is to be applied to all instances of a string.

  2. Select strings for translation.

  3. Define Key name for selected strings.

    Default key names are automatically generated but can be manually changed and will then be listed under User-defined key names.

  4. Click Save.

Note

The job file sent to Memsource is in JSON fomat, which can be automatically detected but better if defined in Project Settings and Context type set to Segment key.
