Machine Translation

Memsource offers integrations with many machine translation providers. It is possible to use machine translation via the Memsource Translate (Beta) solution or by setting up a direct connection with a Third-party MT engine.

Important: Microsoft Translator with Feedback and Manage MT via Memsource have been deprecated.

To access Machine Translation Engines settings:

  1. Click on Setup ( ).
  2. Scroll down to the Integrations section.
  3. Click on Machine Translation Engines.

Memsource Translate (Beta)

The best-performing engine for a project is selected based on the language pair.

  • 69 supported language pairs.
  • Supports Google Translate and Microsoft Translator.
  • Available in all account types.
  • Free characters included in each edition (Ultimate: 2M, Team and Academic: 500k, Team Start: 250k, Personal: 50k).
  • Default Memsource engine.
  • Centralized MT engine management—purchase and monitor character use in Memsource.
Note: Character count in the MT engines includes spaces. The character count in Memsource analysis does not.

If purchasing characters directly through Google or Microsoft, set these engines up directly through the providers. For more information, see Google Translate and Microsoft Translator.

Free characters provided by Microsoft Translator can still be used by disabling Memsource Translate and setting up the Microsoft Translator account.

Monitoring Character Usage

The Settings page presents a usage chart for MT engines associated with your account. Data for a specific engine can be viewed by deselecting the names of the other engines at the bottom of the chart. The chart only displays data from the last 30 days.

By default, Project Managers can only see data related to projects they have created.
To see all data from all projects in an organization, have an Admin user follow these steps:

  1. Click on Users
The list of Users is presented.
  2. Select the appropriate user and click Edit.
    The Edit User page opens.
  3. Select a viewing option under Homepage Dashboards.
  4. Click Save.

Remaining Characters

Remaining characters are presented for all associated MT engines. If more Memsource Translate characters are required, purchase more Memsource Translate characters. If more Third-party characters are required, purchase more MTQE characters

Third-party MT Engines

If Memsource Translate is not being used, Third-party machine translation engines can be accessed via an API. If using Third-party MT in Memsource, ensure the terms and conditions of the given MT provider have been read and understood.

To set up a new machine translation engine, have an Admin user follow these steps:

  1. Click on Setup ( ).
  2. Scroll down to the Integrations section.
  3. Click on Machine Translation Engines.
  4. Click on Create.
  5. Select MT Engine type from the drop-down list.
  6. Fill in required fields as per MT Engine type
  7. Select options (not applicable to all MT Engine types)
  8. Click Save.
New engine is added to list of Third-party Machine Translation Engines.

Please note that some of the machine translation engines are not for public use, and some are accessible only for specific editions.
