Business Units

Available in:

  • Ultimate and Enterprise editions

Business Units provide the grouping of projects into sub-organizations or departments within a Memsource account. This allows for the application and management of access rights to these groups rather than individuals projects.

Access rights can be restricted for:

  • ​Projects
  • Project Templates
  • Translation Memories
  • Term Bases

Business Unit Use Case

A company has divisions in the US and in the EU and don't want all Project Managers to have access to all projects. Business Units are created for each locale and Administrators set individual Project Manager access rights based on the locale in which they have projects while declining access to outside projects.

Creating Business Units

  1. From the Setup ( ) page, scroll down to the Project Metadata section. Click on Business Units.
    The Business Units page opens.
  2. Click New.
    The Create Business Unit window opens.
  3. Provide a name for the Business Unit.
  4. Click Save.
    The new Business Unit is added to the list.

Assigning Business Units

  1. From an existing Project, click Edit.
    The Edit Project page opens.
  2. Select a Business Unit from the dropdown list.
  3. Click Save.
    The selected Business Unit is associated with the Project.

Applying Business Units

  1. Select an existing Project Management User, click Edit.
    The Edit User page opens.
  2. In each category, apply Business Unit Active or Inactive status.
  3. Click Save.
    Project Manager access rights are applied to specified Business Units.
