I tried to open a .mxliff in the desktop editor. While the file is in the folder, it cannot be seen when choosing "open" from the menu of the editor.
But when typing the full filename in the "filename:" field and then click the open button, it can be opened fine.
I tested to copy the file into another folder in the "open" window, I can see it when I just copied the file, but in a flash - in literally less than one second - it became invisible (actually, all files are invisible, only subfolders can be seen)
Same thing happens when trying to import .docx file from the "documents" menu too.
(BTW, I believe that's why people here asking questions like "I can't find the file")
Environment: Windows 10
Editor version: 6.204.11
I just tried to reproduce the issue in the same environment and with the same Editor version but the behavior was completely normal, i.e. I was able to choose it via “Open” from the menu.
I am not sure what may be causing the issue on your device but I believe that in this case, it would be helpful if you chose the Editor as the default app so that you could simply double-click on the MXLIFFfile upon download without searching for it in a folder.
